    • 2021 Smart City Summit & Expo. is the first time Kaohsiung City has co-hosted smart city related events. Kaohsiung’s theme is “Technological Asia New Bay Area, Smart Kaohsiung”, following the announcement in February that the central government will support and fund 350 million USD over five years for the “Asia New Bay Area 5G AIoT Innovation Hub”

      There were many VIPs for the exhibition, including Guo-Tsai Wang, Deputy Director, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Ming-Hsin Kung, Minister, National Development Council, Shian-Guei Chen, Deputy Minister, National Development Council, Swee Peng Sharon Ho, Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre, Eny Yamileth Bautista Guevara, Ambassador, Honduras, Ping-Fu Chen and Shu-Pei Chien, Taipei City Council, Huang-Sheng Wu, Chairman, Research, Development and Evaluation Committee of Taichung City Government, Cloud Computing & IoT Association in Taiwan, Hsu-Tung Hsu, Chairman of the Board, Far Eastone Telecom. and Bank of Kaohsiung all came and gave guidance. Members and advisors of Kaohsiung Smart City Promotion Committee came to the pavilion and gave guidance, including Audrey Tang, Jian-Han Lin, Yi-Jin Tu, Ji-Mao Xie, Erdal Elver, Chih-Hung Chou, Chun-Shen He, Chi Jin, Huai-Jen Li, Hsu-Shen Jian.

      Kaohsiung Smart City Promotion Committee Came And Gave Guidance

      The award-winning “Smart Intersection Anti-Collision” plan for smart city, Kaohsiung city’s bureau of transportation implemented CMS at roadsides, and incorporated short distance wireless transmission technology. By implementing On Board Units on light railway trains, drivers can receive alert information. By implementing Changeable Message Sign, the system is able to send alert signals when the light railway train passes through. Before implementing “Smart Intersection Anti-Collision”, every month light railway has 1.65 cases of traffic accidents. After the project implementation at 4 intersections, now every month there is only 0.3 cases of traffic accidents, nearly reducing the accident rate by 80%. This information alert system can send alerts before a vehicle makes a right turn unlawfully, at nearly 20 meters before the intersection, and can predict 90% correctly to provide more time for the driver to react to situations, and to prevent accidents from happening.

      Transportation Bureau Of Kaohsiung City Government’s “Smart Intersection Anti-Collision”Winning The 2021 Smart City Innovation Award

      Kaohsiung, at the exhibition, demonstrates to the world that it is a  technologically transformed smart city to the world, with a total of 12 bureau, including Transportation Bureau, Fire Bureau, Department of Health, Water Resource Bureau, Agriculture Bureau, Mass Rapid Transit Bureau, Tourism Bureau, Education Bureau, Economic Development Bureau, Land Administration Bureau, Public Works Bureau, Information Management Center. The 15 booths demonstrated smart light railway, smart electric meter, smart water technology, smart security…etc. Kaohsiung City Government and businesses, through public private partnership, showed city governance results. The exhibition had rich content, and the promotional videos were intriguing. Kaohsiung attracted many businesses and people to stop by and visit.

      Businesses And People Stopping By And Visiting

      Kaohsiung City Government held “New Southbound International Smart City Forum” during the 2021 Smart City Expo & Summit. Kaohsiung City built connection with ASEAN countries on the subject of smart city applications, for the purpose of building new southbound smart city business opportunities. Ming-Hsin Kung, Minister, National Development Council, Swee Peng Sharon Ho, Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre, Rishikesh Swaminathan, Vice President, India-Taipei Association all personally arrived at the forum and spoke. Xin-Rong Lin, Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung City demonstrated to the international friends Kaohsiung City Government smart city development and strategy, and used specific cases as examples on how to use smart technologies to assist industrial city transformation.

      The International Panel Discussion was hosted by Professor Ken-Huang Lin of Sun Yat-sen University. With the theme of "Industrial City's Digital Transformation", representatives of Secom Group, FongShan Water Resource Plant, Lao ICT Commerce Association, and Indonesian IoT Association were invited to share the opportunities of digital transformation of industrial cities. , Difficulties and solutions. The 2nd panel discussion’s theme was “Post COVID-19 Era - Sharing of Technology Application Cases” invited Far Eastone Telecomm. Co., LTD., Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital, Philippines Software Industry Association, and NASSCOM from India, sharing how technologies are used to help industries revitalization and citizens healthcare…etc. in the post-COVID era.

      The forum this time had two twin-city conferences, including Kaohsiung City and Selangor’s conference, as well as Kaohsiung City and Butuan City’s conference. The event successfully built twin city’s exchange on experiences and led to the start of economic and trade exchanges between Kaohsiung City and Selangor, from G2G to B2B. The forum also successfully invited embassy from India, Malaysia and Honduras. After the forum, the ambassador from Honduras contacted Kaohsiung City Smart City Project Management Office (KPMO), with an inquiry on visiting Kaohsiung mart agriculture related solutions. On April 9th, 2021, KPMO assisted Belize Ambassador Candice Pitt, Guatemala Ambassador Willy Gómez, Honduras Ambassador Eny Bautista and Nicaragua Ambassador Mirna Rivera to Kaohsiung’s Yong-an Fishing Port to visit on the subject of smart agriculture. Through this visit, Taiwan’s diplomatic relations with Central America deepens, and this cooperation will help Taiwan’s smart solution export.
